Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard

PCI DSS is a standard developed by a Committee formed by the major credit card companies (Visa, MasterCard, etc.), called the PCI SSC (Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council). These guides provide regulations on processing, storage and transmission of cardholder data.

PCI DSS forms the set of data security mechanisms and administrative and operational rules that govern this business. These regulations ensure the handling of such data, in order to prevent fraud involving credit and debit cards.

Identify a false e-mail.

The objective of this type of email is to acquire personal information, such as credit or debit card numbers, document numbers or passwords. These messages try to seem authentic by affirming they are sent by real companies. They even use the same graphics and designs of these companies. Some add links to counterfeit web sites similar to the real ones, where they proceed to request the personal information.

Here we offer you a list of items that can help you to identify them with ease:

  • Greeting: many false e-mails begin with general greetings such as "Attention: Pagadito user". Pagadito emails are always personalized.
  • Urgency and threat to your account: these false messages usually communicate that Pagadito has the urgent need to update and expand your personal data. The majority of these false emails threaten the immediate discontinuance of the service or the disabling of your account. Pagadito never requests data by email.
  • Request for personal information: be on the alert for e-mails requesting personal information through links or forms included in the body of the message. This information can be your user name and password, credit card or bank account number. Pagadito never requires the user to enter his/her password or username in an email. When an action that requires access to your account is involved, Pagadito directs you to the web site’s log in screen.
  • E-mail links: always check the URL of the site to which the link in the email is taking you; be sure that it is Pagadito.

Once you have identified a false e-mail, we recommend that you do the following:

  • Please do not reply to the message.
  • Report it immediately by copying the message and sending it to seguridad@pagadito.com.
  • Erase the message from your email account.

By reporting a false e-mail, you are helping to ensure the integrity and security of all Pagadito users.
